The United States Senate has *just* voted to repeal the Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy which prevents open gays/lesbians from serving in our armed forces. The final vote was 65-31 in favor of repeal. The U.S. House of Representatives also voted to repeal DADT earlier this week, 250-175.

Good news.
And I'm glad that it wasn't done by a court intruding on the rightful powers of the people and their elected representatives.
It's about time cos in this modern day-and-age that reprehensible policy was becoming frankly embarassing. It also sends a message that us homosexuals will not tolerate being treated as second-class citizens. We work, have kids, and pay taxes the same as everyone else. I might also add that sometimes it does take the power of the courts to enforce the constitutional rights of minorities which are denied by the tyranny of the majority; ask any black person. bfn - Wayne :)
