2009 Christmas Review and Other Tidbits

Hi :)

Hope you all had a good Christmas (assuming you celebrate it :p). Two of my brother's came over this morning. They were only supposed to stay for lunch, but ended up staying for the entire day O_O

We talked, watched movies on TV and Mythbusters, and pigged out on junk food lol.

Here is what Santa brought me:

New cell phone - Verizon enV3 (my second favorite present)
A sleeveless vest to wear under my dressy winter coat. The coat doesn't cover my neck well enough, so that's what this is for.
My most FAVORITE present - a Blu-Ray player. That pic doesn't look like the one I have, but it'll do :p It is awesome! The picture quality amazing! I tested out (ie watched my favorite scenes) Quantum of Solace (2008), Poseidon (2006), Band of Brothers (2001), Titanic (1997), and Gettysburg (1993). Even Gettysburg, which is 16 years old, looks better!
Band of Brothers on Blu-Ray
A new pair of gloves
Old Spice deodorant and aftershave gift set. Santa must think I smell bad and need to shave :p
Laptop carrying case.
My third favorite present. The Gettysburg Companion.

My brother is giving me some Mollies as soon as they are old enough. He's bought me an aquarium, filter stuff, light, stones, decorations, and whatever else you need for a fish tank.

I also got $115 worth of giftcards from Wal-Mart, Dunam's, and Petsmart.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

When putting contacts in my new phone, I did not add Alex. I don't have his number memorized either. So no more texting him. I haven't sent him any messages in forever anyway :)

I'm on Twitter and Skype a lot more recently. My skype name is pabond008 (yes 8 not 7). If you have one, feel free to add me :p My Twitter (which is on the sidebar) is petesblog. Follow me if you have a twitter account :p

Hmm...

Dunno what else to say... so... good night :)

Merry Christmas Everybody!

Picture Post

Yeah, I really don't have anything to blog about right now. There will be some important upcoming posts though. My SAT results come out tomorrow so I'll be posting about that, and college stuff again.

Anyway, here are some pics I snapped over the last two weeks.

Hail! There was heavy rain and very strong wind that day. There was a tornado warning in a county near us.

Rainbow :)

One of our Christmas trees:

The "main" Xmas tree:
There is a cat under the tree in this one. Casper must think he is a present :p

Both trees:

Smaller tree again:

Village and train:

First significant snowfall of the season:

Dad pretty much failed at taking pics of the outside decorations. I think he was more interested in the snow lol.

New Friends

The other day on Twitter, Torchy introduced me to Nic, a cute boy from Germany (but was actually from the US originally). Actually, cute is an understatement :p

Then yesterday Nic, Tyler, Captastro, and myself all met on Skype. It was bunches of fun, but we also had some serious discussion about being gay/bi and all that. We met again today for a little while.

As I said, Nic lives in Germany and is really cute :p I don't really know that much about him because 1.) I can't be bothered to go and read a years worth of blog posts lol, and 2.) because I haven't really talked to him personally yet; just in a group setting.

Captastro (not his real name lol) doesn't have a blog, but I've gotten to know him a bit on Twitter. He's an older gentleman who is very nice, and laughs at all my kitten jokes :p

I can say that those two are my new friends :)

Yesterday and today I also met some other people including Torchy! and Steve (Planetx_123). Obviously I knew Torchy before today (who doesn't know Torchy?), but today I got to hear his voice for a little bit before he had to go. He sounds very Britishy :p

Pearl Harbor Day - Day of Infamy

The attack on Pearl Harbor was an unannounced military strike conducted by the Japanese navy against the United States naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii on the morning of December 7, 1941. It resulted in the United States entry into World War II. The attack was intended as a preventive action to keep the U.S. Pacific Fleet from influencing the war the Empire of Japan was planning in Southeast Asia against Britain and the Netherlands, as well as the U.S. in the Philippines. The attack consisted of two aerial attack waves totaling 353 aircraft, launched from six Japanese aircraft carriers.

The attack sank four U.S. Navy battleships (two of which were raised and returned to service later in the war) and damaged four more. The Japanese also sank or damaged three cruisers, three destroyers, and one minelayer, destroyed 188 aircraft, and caused personnel losses of 2,402 killed and 1,282 wounded. The power station, shipyard, maintenance, and fuel and torpedo storage facilities, as well as the submarine piers and headquarters building (also home of the intelligence section) were not hit. Japanese losses were minimal, with 29 aircraft and five midget submarines lost, and 65 servicemen killed or wounded. One Japanese sailor was captured.

The attack was a major engagement of World War II. It took place before a formal declaration of war by Japan and before the last part of a 14-part message had been delivered to the State Department in Washington, D.C. The Japanese Embassy in Washington had been instructed to deliver it immediately prior to the scheduled time of the attack in Hawaii. The attack, and especially its surprise nature, were both factors which swayed U.S. public opinion from isolationism to support for direct participation in the war. Germany's prompt declaration of war, unforced by any treaty commitment to Japan, quickly brought the United States into the European Theater as well. Despite numerous historical precedents of unannounced military action, the lack of any formal declaration prior to the attack led President Franklin D. Roosevelt to proclaim "December 7th, 1941 — a date which will live in infamy".

SAT Day

Today was the date of the SAT. I had to get up at 6am (>.<). We left around 7:15. Before leaving I checked Facebook just for the hell of it. Turns out, my first crush (Lauren) was taking the test today as well. I hoped she'd be at my testing center (there are a few around here) so I'd have someone to sit beside/talk to.

When we got there (it was at another high school), I signed in and went to the room they were having the test in. Lauren and Cullen(sp?), a guy who I was sorta friends with before were there. I sat behind Lauren.

They made us sign an agreement that stated we wouldn't discuss any particulars about the test with anyone. A bit paranoid of them really, but I guess I'll keep my promise :p

It started around 8:30 and went until about 12:45. I think I did well on everything (critical reading, writing, and an essay), but probably poorly on the math sections. Hopefully good scores on everything else will counter low scores on the math. Oh well, Community College is always an option :p

I don't think I'm going to take the SAT again. I'm running out of time to apply to schools on time. So if I don't get good enough scores to get into a UV then CC is a good choice too. My brother did CC and has a good life; married, new house, 2 cars, kid. And of course I could always transfer to a UV after 2 years.

So, it's all good :) lol After taking the SAT, I'm not really stressed about college decisions much anymore. Maybe that's a bad thing lol
