Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear

Today, Comedy Central's Jon Stewart and Stephan Colbert hosted a rally in Washington D.C. Originally two separate rallies (Jon Stewart's Rally to Restore Sanity, and faux ultra-right conservative Stephen Colbert's March To Keep Fear Alive), the two combined their rallies after a permit problem (Colbert says he didn't know he was supposed to have a permit).

The rally included musical guests from Tony Bennett singing America the Beautiful, to Ozzy Osbourne, among numerous others. In my personal opinion, the musical entertainment left something to be desired. The Mythbusters, Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman, conducted experiments with the audience doing the wave, jumping all at once and recording it using a seismograph, and having the audience respond at once to sounds shown as words on the jumbotrons (i.e. laugh, silent, laugh like a mad scientist, laugh politely, cheek pop, and cheer).

Tens of thousands turned out for the event:

Skits were performed by Stewart and Colbert, including a "debate" on what to fear (see videos after this post).

Fears included:

Poison in our water,

Muslims (with Kareem Abdul-Jabar, basketball legend and Muslim making a cameo),

and robots (with Star Wars' R2-D2 making another cameo).

At the end of the rally, Stewart made this speech:

While I never watched The Daily Show or The Colbert Report before, I wanted to attend this rally. The reason for the rally, a call to tone down the noisy rhetoric and hate spewed by both sides of the mainstream media and other news outlets from MSNBC to CNN to Fox News, is one that I agree with 100%. It doesn't do anybody any good.

Unfortunately, I waited too long to start seriously planning the trip. A month ago, hotel rooms within my price range were all booked up. So, I was planning on driving down to D.C. early in the morning, then going home that same day. It would have taken me 6 hours at the most one way, so the idea was a little crazy (ironic considering the reason for the rally). It wasn't until last week I found out there were rally buses leaving from major cities, including Pittsburgh. However, the Pittsburgh buses were already filled. I begged Dad to let me go, but he wouldn't let me. I watched it on C-SPAN instead.

I thought it was a great rally and I hope it sends a message.

Now, for those who don't know, Stephen Colbert pretends to be a right-wing cable TV blowhard. His show, The Colbert Report, is used to show how utterly ridiculous some of the things you hear from news organizations actually are. Here now is a segment titled "Stephen Colbert's Fear For All" which highlights the "5 main fear groups." One of the 5 is homosexuality, which is why I'm posting this here.

XD

I was watching this show on TV a couple nights ago. It just cracks me up so much. After that one night of seeing it on TV, I started watching clips of it on Youtube. I figured I would post some. Even tho no one will comment -_-

:p

The volume varies greatly on these clips. So be ready to turn it down lol. Half the time I just find the audiences reactions funnier.

Newsflash:

Watching this one hurts my privates :p

This one's gross lol

Let's Make a Date:

I put these ones up here cos I think Jeff is kinda cuteish. Needs a haircut tho lol

There's a lot more on Youtube, but it's 1 a.m. and I gotta get up at 8 :\

If you don't find any one of these remotely funny, then there is something seriously wrong with you.

"My Penis Fell Off" - Funnies from The Sopranos

"I had this dream last night. My belly button was a Phillips head screw. And as I'm walking around, I'm screwing it. Once I unscrew it the whole way, my penis falls off. I pick it up in my hand and start running around looking for the guy who used to work on my Lincoln when I drove Lincolns. As I'm running, a bird swoops down and grabs my penis outta my hand and flies off."

-Tony Soprano

"Log off, that 'cookies' shit makes me nervous!"

-Tony Soprano

Tony Soprano: Maybe I should tap into my roots, too. My grandmother was half Indian.
Christopher Moltisanti: Get the fuck out of here.
Tony: No, it's true. She was in the Fakawee tribe.
Chris: Oh, yeah?
Tony: Yeah. When they used to get lost in the woods, they stopped and said "Where the Fakawee?"

Paulie "Walnuts" Gualtieri: Hey, Sil. You remember your first blowjob?
Silvio Dante: Oh, yeah.
Paulie: How long did it take for the guy to cum?

Christopher Moltisanti: Fear knocked on the door. Faith answered. There was no one there.

Janice Soprano: [as she's talking with Tony while sucking marrow out of a soup bone] God, I love marrow, just like Ma. Remember Ma with a bone? It sounded like half-price day at a liposuction clinic.

Great Video. Please Watch

Thanks to Seth (not Sethboyardee) for posting this video on Myspace.

I wish everyone could watch this and take what's said to heart.

97th Anniversary

I'm probably the only one in this corner of the blogosphere that knows what happened 97 years ago on the night of April 14 and the early morning hours of the 15th, 1912.

Well if you don't know after watching these videos, then shame on you :p

Take time to remember the 1,500 people that died in the most famous maritime disaster in history.

Quote:

"Fifteen-hundred people went into the sea, when Titanic sank from under us. There were twenty boats floating nearby... and only one came back. One. Six were saved from the water, myself included. Six... out of fifteen-hundred. Afterward, the seven-hundred people in the boats had nothing to do but wait... wait to die... wait to live... wait for an absolution... that would never come. "
